Ignore option needed
Hello,
I think I already wrote this somewhere, but, here it goes:
In my humble opinion, choices ALLOW and PROHIBIT are not enough. They are forcing the user to choose whether to trust the application then and there. But trust is something that"s being built, not a simple yes/no decision in all cases. Therefore, I suggest to add one more choice: IGNORE. That one would keep the application blocked but would erase the alert and notification and would ask again next time.
For example: you are testing a brand new closed source offline utility program. And, as soon as you start the program, the firewall alerts you that the program is trying to connect to internet. At that moment, you still don"t know if the program is trying to do something behind your back or is it simply trying to auto-update itself. So, in that moment, the best option to choose would be IGNORE. If you would choose ALLOW, the program would get full internet access, but, your trust level in that program is not there yet. If you would choose PROHIBIT, you would stop the program from connecting to the internet, but, then again, for some specific function, sometime in future you would want to consider allowing it. So, the best choice would be IGNORE (keep blocking but ask next time). Then, when the program finally starts and you can go to it"s settings and disable auto-updates-check option, you would like to end the program and start it again, just to make sure that this time it is indeed not trying to connect to internet whatsoever. Right now, since there is no IGNORE option, the only thing a user can do is leave it unanswered which just clutters the alert and events lists to the point where they just become unmanageable.
Thanks.
Cheers!
Keep up the good work. Evorim Free Firewall rocks! I would gladly pay a monthly subscription for it if it would work flawlessly and with absolute reliability. Unfortunately, it is still not there.

Impressive to see user feedback listened to and quickly incorporated. As a recent new user, I wasn"t aware that ignore was a recent-ish feature.
That said, I had to use evorim"s help site search to get info on what "ignore" does because the word "ignore" doesn"t appear in the online user manual. But anyway, now I know. And at least the site search worked, which is more than a lot of companies can say.
